The law of attraction is a law that works in the whole universe. So it’s better to call it ‘Gravity’ instead ‘The Law of Attraction’, because gravity is the only attraction there is all over the universe.
And it always works. It even works for and with people who don’t even know about the existenceof this law of attraction, who have never heard of it. It also works for them.
But in our days there are people, mostly from ‘New Age’ side, that say that you can use this law of attraction to your own benefit. (The ‘how’ is to be found all over the internet.) And this is true, oh yes, this is true. But they forget one thing and that is that it can only be true, when this law always works. Like gravity always works.
So, when you have longings, this law of attraction always attract what you long for, because it always works. Also when you don’t use this law on purpose. Also when you’re not aware of the fact that you have longings. And also when you’re not aware of the fact that those longings attract what you long for, by this law of attraction. It even attracts what you don’t want, but what’s in your mind nevertheless. This law attracts what’s in your mind. Always.
And since these longings are old, dead, because you can only long for something you already know, you always get old, dead stuff as a result of what you long for. By this law of attraction.
And that is the trap, the pitfall, of this Law of Attraction.
This pile of dead stuff you always get.
You can never get something new by using this law of attraction, because you can never long for something new, because you can never know something new.
You can only get something new by living spontaneously, using your intuition, getting what comes on your path. And living spontaneously can only be done in the Now. And that is the only ‘place’ where something new can be found.
Longings aren’t spontaneous at all, they are old, they are dead. In fact they cause your (spiritual) death.
That’s why you have to stop longing. Because you can’t long for something new. Even stronger: you can only feel, in the Now, when something new is around. By your intuition. And then you can ‘jump’ on it. You can never create something new upfront, like you create your longings. You are living a dead live by your longings, because your longings are dead.
So stop longing.
Which Buddha already told us to do. He called it ‘Nirvana’. (Nirvana means being free from longings.)
